Peter S Zukof
I grew up here in New York City, but spent my
summers in the Catskills. My  working class parents
struggled through the years to give me a private
tutor in art and to keep our summer cottage, the
two things that I truly loved growing up. It is only
with age and children of my own that I have begun
to realize just how my parents choices brought me
to where I am today.  In Kindergarten, taking the
advice of my teacher my parents enrolled me in
weekend art classes, which I kept up with through
High School. However  my desire to create was not
wholly satisfied with painting and so as a teenager I
also began to study music, architecture, design,
carpentry and photography. I have always had a
deep passion for the arts and science, but for me
as every summer  approached and we would head
back upstate it always felt like going 'home'.  Being
surrounded by nature was always a constant
source of  fascination and inspiration for me, and as
I grew older it began to truly drive my creativity.
Painting and drawing were always my strongest
talents and so I went to college (proud to be the
first in my family to attend) at The School Of  Visual
Arts in Manhattan, where I graduated with a BFA in
illustration. My years of being a struggling artist
were always supported by part time work in art and
book stores, until I took a part time job in
horticulture. I did not take me long to realize that it
was the perfect match between my love of nature
and my love of art.
After years of working in the horticultural industry, I
teamed up in 2006 with a long time colleague and
friend Lonna Stauffer and we created our own
company, and thus began Junebug Artistic Garden
design Inc.
I reside now in Park Slope, Brooklyn with my wife
and two children. And every summer I still trek
'home' upstate with my family to our summer
cottage.

I started my company with the belief that I could truly offer
something different to my clientèle.  Our extensive background in
horticulture, and in art and design, combined with our
commitment to quality bring about a value in our gardening
service that our customers truly appreciate.  Along with the
aesthetics of the garden, we feel very committed to the
environmental impact that the gardens we create will have, from
insect life to proper water management.  We take a holistic
approach to make sure that our gardens are sustainable and
environmentally healthy by choosing the proper plants for the site
and using all organic plant care products.  We take immense pride
